According to Spanish news publication Sport, via talkSPORT, Barcelona are set to end their interest in appointing Everton boss Ronald Koeman as their new manager this summer after refusing to pay his £6.7m release clause.
The Spanish giants are looking for a new manager after Luis Enrique confirmed earlier this year that he will leave his role at the end of the season, and they had been linked with Koeman, who spent six successful campaigns at the Camp Nou as a player between 1989 and 1995.
However, they have been put off by the reported £6.7m release clause inserted into his contract when he moved to Goodison Park from Southampton last summer.
Everton supporters were quick to have their say on the news regarding the Dutchman, who has led the club to Europa League qualification with four Premier League fixtures still remaining, via social media and they don’t believe it was a move that was ever on the cards anyway.
