According to reports in the Daily Mail, Everton are keeping tabs on Edinson Cavani's situation at Paris Saint-Germain following his bust-up with teammate Neymar at the weekend, and Toffees fans have been quick to give their reaction.

The duo clashed on the pitch in the 2-0 win against Lyon over who was taking free-kicks and penalties, and even though PSG chiefs have been quick to play the incident down the Daily Mail says that Cavani was also frustrated at playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the Parc des Princes previously.

The report adds that the Merseyside outfit are monitoring the situation after failing to directly replace Romelu Lukaku during the summer transfer window, and it would be one of the biggest coups in Premier League history if they could bring the 30-year-old, who scored 49 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions last season, to Goodison Park.

Everton supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, and while some described the Uruguayan as the "perfect Lukaku replacement", others accept that a move "won’t happen".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
