Everton have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the transfer market so far, bringing in two new faces, but now their Merseyside rivals have begun spending.

According to BBC Sport, Liverpool splashed £34m on former Chelsea attacker Mohamed Salah from Roma.

The Reds announced the Egyptian international's arrival on their official website on Thursday evening, confirming that he has penned a long-term deal and will wear the number 11 shirt.

Salah failed to impress at Chelsea, spending the majority of his two years at the club away on loan to Fiorentina and then Roma.

After joining Roma permanently last year, he went on to score 17 goals in all competitions and racked up 12 assists.

Everton, who have spent more than £50m bringing in goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and midfielder Davy Klaassen, are believed to be pursuing an attacking player of their own.

BBC Sport claims that the club are closing in on the £5.2m capture of Malaga striker Sandro Ramirez after activating his buyout clause.

With Liverpool's signing of Salah snatching the limelight, Everton fans have tweeted their thoughts on the new arrival.
