This summer, it seems that football clubs are trying to outdo one another with their creative transfer announcements.
It used to be the case where statements were released via the club’s official website first, but now social media takes priority.
Most high-profile players that have moved clubs this summer have been unveiled in videos, many of which have attracted jibes from fans.
On this occasion, Everton attempted to tease fans with a clip showing their new man travelling around Merseyside before ending up at the club’s Finch Farm training base.
At the end of the video, Gylfi Sigurdsson can be seen in the locker room as if he is about to head out for a training session.

Considering that Sigurdsson has been expected to join the Toffees for a while, it did not come as a huge surprise that he was the man to be revealed at the end of the video.
The teasing element did not really work, and fans took the opportunity to poke fun at how long it has taken to get the deal done.
My 9 month pregnancy and 36 hour Labour stills seems quicker than waiting for this announcement……..Welcome 💙

Sigurdsson joined the Toffees from Swansea City for a club-record fee thought to be in the region of £45m, and has penned a five-year contract.
