According to reports in the Daily Mail, Everton attacking midfielder Ross Barkley has suffered a hamstring injury in training, but Toffees fans are sceptical on the problem for the contract rebel.

The Daily Mail says that the 23-year-old could face an extended lay-off after teammates saw him go down clutching his leg at the club’s Finch Farm training base, and had to be helped from the field.

The England international has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer after turning down a new contract offer to stay at Goodison Park, and the Merseyside outfit are keen to cash in on him now to avoid losing him for nothing in 2018 when his current deal is due to run out.

However, the latest setback may damage his chances of moving to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea or Arsenal – who are all interested according to the Daily Mail – before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Everton supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, and the majority don’t believe the injury to be real with some even suggesting that Barkley may be over-exaggerating the issue to ensure that he can leave for free next year.
