Everton suffered a disappointing 1-0 home defeat by Burnley at Goodison Park on Sunday as the pressure increased on manager Ronald Koeman, and Toffees fans weren’t impressed with Ashley Williams’ performance at the back.
The Wales international and summer signing Michael Keane have been Koeman’s first-choice central defensive partnership this season, but they suffered another disappointing day at the office against the Clarets as Jeff Hendrick’s first-half goal proved to be the difference between the two teams.
Williams has come under scrutiny from the home faithful this term following some below-par showings, and with the club now lying in 16th in the standings despite the number of new players they brought in during the summer, it could be set to get even worse.
Everton supporters were quick to have their say on his performance via social media, and while some believe he is “out of his depth”, others went as far as saying he is ‘one of the worst Everton players that they have ever seen’.

How Williams gets picked over ANYBODY is beyond me.
No pace & no brain.
Gives Keane more work trying to cover the gaps Williams leaves#EFC

defensive positioning is all wrong, play far too deep. far too much space in between the mid and back 4. martina and williams are also liabilities

Yep, a team can beat a motley crew of more expensive players. Especially when you have a catastrophe like Ashley Williams at the back.

Not with him… yet. Ashley Williams however is one of the worst Everton players I have ever seen – and I have seen some dross.
