Everton were knocked out of the Europa League with two group matches still to play following their 3-0 defeat against Lyon at the Groupama Stadium on Thursday night, and Toffees fans were furious with Morgan Schneiderlin's performance.

On a night where caretaker manager David Unsworth rested senior players like Wayne Rooney, Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka with the Premier League clash against Watford on Sunday in mind, it was up to the likes of Schneiderlin to perform and be a role model alongside a number of young pros in the starting XI.

While the Merseyside outfit were level until the 68th minute, it was the Frenchman's tackle that fell favourably for Bertrand Traore, who made no mistake.

And just four minutes after the Ligue 1 outfit netted their second, Schneiderlin was shown his second yellow card for a lazy challenge.

Everton supporters were quick to have their say on his showing via social media, and while some said he is an "absolute disgrace", others simply said "he doesn’t want to play for us".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction...
