Everton supporters have lauded captain Phil Jagielka after his goalscoring performance against Leicester City.

The defender has very much become a part of the furniture at Goodison Park having been in the Everton fold since his 2007 move from Sheffield United.

This season, injury forced him out of the team in October and he faced a fight to get back into Ronald Koeman's reckoning after decent performances from his replacement Ramiro Funes Mori.

The Argentine now finds himself on the treatment table with a knee injury and is unlikely to play again this season after undergoing surgery earlier this month.

Jagielka has since returned to the back line alongside Ashley Williams and he has been pivotal in the Toffees' last few games.

The centre-back has been an unlikely scorer in matches against Manchester United and Leicester City.

Jagielka scored the opener against the Red Devils, but a 94th-minute penalty from Zlatan Ibrahimovic prevented Everton from taking all three points.

Against Leicester at Goodison Park on Sunday, the 34-year-old nudged his team in front 3-2 before Romelu Lukaku wrapped up the match with his second goal of the game.

After the match, Jagielka tweeted his joy, and plenty of fans responded with positive messages.
