Everton fans unhappy Lukaku has picked up end-of-season awards

Some Everton fans are not best pleased that Romelu Lukaku picked up two gongs during the end-of-season awards on Tuesday night.

The Belgian was named the Players’ Player of the Year and the Player of the Season, beating out Idrissa Gueye.

The Belgian international was crowned the winner of two awards during a ceremony at Liverpool’s Royal Philharmonic Hall.

It was not a huge surprise that Lukaku collected the gongs considering that he is the club’s top scorer this season on 25 goals in all competitions.

The issue that some Everton fans may have, though, is that his future is far from certain at Goodison Park.

The 23-year-old is yet to pen a new contract, and there have been widespread rumours that rival clubs, including his former employers Chelsea, are interested in signing him this summer.

Lukaku joined Everton permanently from the West London outfit in 2014, but the club are yet to match his ambitions of Champions League football.

After the striker was announced as a double award winner, some Everton fans expressed their discontent.
