Ex-Everton man claims club are ‘getting serious’ following spending spree

Former Everton striker Kevin Campbell believes that the Merseyside club have taken a huge step forward due to their spending this summer.

Ronald Koeman’s side have been the busiest Premier League club in the transfer window, spending more than £85m on fresh faces.

Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Henry Onyekuru, Sandro Ramirez and Michael Keane are among the players to enter the welcome gates at Goodison Park.

An even bigger name arrived at the weekend when Wayne Rooney was confirmed as the club’s latest signing.

As everyone knows, the England captain began his career at Everton and burst onto the scene at the age of 16 before being lured away by Manchester United.

After 13 successful years at Old Trafford, the country’s leading goalscorer has returned to his boyhood club, signing a two-year contract.

They may have sold their best player Romelu Lukaku, but from Campbell’s point of view, Everton have shown a massive sign of intent this summer.

The former striker, who spent six years at the club, took to Twitter to get his point across.
