Domestic football has been put on the back-burner over the past week, with World Cup qualifiers taking centre stage.
England faced Slovenia and Lithuania in their final two matches and managed to secure a spot in next summer’s finals in Russia with three points from their first game of the week.
Harry Kane was the main man in both fixtures as he scored in each 1-0 win, the second of which was from the penalty spot.
Gareth Southgate’s team did not exactly set the world alight in either match, but some of Tottenham’s contingent played well.
Kane improved his tally to 15 goals in his last 10 games in all competitions, while Harry Winks made his England senior debut against Lithuania and impressed.
Graham Roberts, who played as a defender for Spurs between 1980 and 1986, praised the Spurs pair for their performances, but wants them to now focus on their club commitments.
