Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has committed his future to the Merseyside club by signing a new long-term deal, but some fans are unsure whether he is worth the pay rise.

The club’s official website confirmed the newswith the man himself admitting that he feels “very proud and quite humbled” by the faith shown in him by the Merseyside outfit.

As expected, the Premier League club did not divulge details of the contract, but the Liverpool Echo reports that the England international has signed a new three-year deal worth £110,000 per week.

Lallana follows teammates Philippe Coutinho and Joe Gomez in penning fresh terms, signalling that he is an important figure in Jurgen Klopp’s plans.

It took time for the 28-year-old to settle when he arrived from Southampton in 2014 for a reported £25m figure, but under Klopp he has thrived, particularly this season.

The start of 2017 was not pretty for anyone associated with Liverpool following a run of just one win in 10 games in all competitions, but on an individual level, Lallana has already improved on his previous campaigns having scored seven goals and creating as many assists.

The midfielder has not always been a fan favourite, and even though plenty have warmed towards him this season, some are not convinced that he is worthy of being one of the club’s top earners.

On the flip side, others believe that he deserves more than his recent hike in wages.
