Ronald Koeman is expected to be linked to the Barcelona hotseat until a permanent manager is named as Luis Enrique’s successor.
The Everton manager has been named among a list of potential candidates by the bookies to become the next leader of the Spanish giants.
There does not seem to be any foundation to the rumours as yet, but his status as a former Barcelona player and assistant manager at the Camp Nou means that he is always going to be linked to the post.
Koeman has been asked numerous times about the speculation, but it has now intensified following Enrique’s announcement in midweek that he is stepping down at the end of the season.
Everton have had Koeman in charge for just nine months, and after a difficult spell, the team are now on the rise having gone nine Premier League games unbeaten.
The Toffees are the closest challengers to the top six as they currently reside seventh, four points adrift of Manchester United, so losing Koeman at this time would be a big blow to Everton.
The Dutchman’s abandonment of Southampton to move to Goodison Park last summer has some football fans questioning whether he will do the same to the Merseyside outfit.
Supporters from all clubs have been giving their thoughts on Twitter, with some thinking that Koeman is not good enough for the Catalan giants.
