Boro are in desperate need of points as they look to avoid being relegated back to the Championship at the first time of asking, but they could only get one in south Wales to leave them four points from safety.
In fact, the former Aston Villa attacker – who lasted tasted success in a top flight match for Villa against Bournemouth in August 2015 – had the ideal chance to snatch victory for his current club in injury-time, but he could only head wide.
