A mixture of joy and slight relief would have been felt by most Chelsea supporters on Wednesday night when the team overcame Manchester City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Even though Antonio Conte’s men have been leading the Premier League title charge for five months, a seed of doubt was planted after last weekend’s shock defeat to Crystal Palace.
The Blues knew that if they lost to City and Tottenham Hotspur defeated Swansea City, then their lead would be cut to just four points.
They managed to avoid that, though, as they managed to see off Pep Guardiola’s side on home turf, largely thanks to Eden Hazard.
The Belgian international, who has found the form that earned him PFA Player of the Year in 2015, scored both of the Blues’ goals – one in the 10th minute and the other in the 35th.
Sergio Aguero found an equaliser with 26 minutes on the clock, but City were unable to come from behind for a second time after Hazard sealed his brace.
Fans took to Twitter to praise their number 10.

The downside of midweek football. Getting home , taking ages. Still we are 7 pts clear and Hazard is a genius #CFC
