Latest Coutinho news causes divide among Liverpool fans

Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho could potentially be at the centre of one of the transfer sagas of the summer window.

The Brazilian playmaker has been linked to Spanish giants Barcelona for some time.

In January, the rumours quieted down when Coutinho penned a new long-term contract at Anfield, but they soon resurfaced, with Spanish publication Sport now claiming that the 24-year-old has said ‘yes’ to a move to the Camp Nou.

The man himself, though, is not publicly entertaining the speculation, seemingly reiterating his commitment to the Reds during the Liverpool Former Players Association gala dinner at the Hilton hotel.

According to the Liverpool Echo, while collecting the 5Times Player of the Year award, Coutinho addressed a crowd of ex-Reds by saying:

“I am really proud to be voted for this award by Liverpool’s former players. I know they won a lot of things with this club and I hope that one day I can do the same.”

Of course, things can change drastically when it comes to footballers’ futures, and the latest reports coming out of Spain have caused concern for some fans.

Coutinho is arguably Liverpool’s best player, but some supporters have expressed on Twitter that they would be willing to sell if Barcelona offer a staggering fee for the Brazilian’s services.
