Leeds United dropped out of the playoff positions in the Championship table when they suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday afternoon.

It is now just one win in their last five league fixtures for the former Champions League participants, which has left them playing catch-up ahead of their final three matches in England's second tier this term.

Despite the disappointing run of form, criticism of head coach Garry Monk has been muted, and that was also the case when the former Swansea City manager took to Twitter following Monday's loss at Elland Road.

Social media has become a breeding ground for criticism, especially of high-profile individuals, but Monk's tweet, which offered "no excuses" for the defeat to Wolves, was well-received by supporters of the famous club.

Next up for Leeds is a trip to Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon, before welcoming Norwich City and travelling to Wigan Athletic in their final two matches of the 2016-17 campaign.

Whether or not Monk can lead Leeds into the Championship playoffs this season remains to be seen, but there is no doubting that the Welshman is a popular figure at Elland Road after his impressive work at the helm.
