Leeds United announced on Wednesday that centre-back Pontus Jansson had signed a new five-year contract with the Championship club.
The 26-year-old joined Leeds on loan from Torino at the start of the 2016-17 season, before the move became permanent during the summer.
He has made 47 appearances for the Whites since switching from Italian football, and is now contracted to the club for the next five seasons.
Jansson, who is valued at £5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, has already played more than 850 minutes of Championship football for Leeds this season – starting 10 times in the second tier.
Leeds have been keen to hand out long-term deals to a number of their key players since Thomas Christiansen took charge, and Jansson’s new contract, which will run until the summer of 2022, is great news for the promotion-chasing club.
As expected, a number of Leeds fans were active on social media to offer their congratulations to the centre-back.

Excellent. We all go through bad spells but I am sure it'll be short lived. So glad he will be with us long term.😀
