Leeds fans desperate for Wood to stay at Elland Road

Leeds United won just one of their final eight games of the 2016-17 Championship season as they missed out on a spot in the playoffs by five points.

It was some collapse for a team that looked intent on securing a return to the Premier League for long spells of the campaign, and now head coach Garry Monk faces a tough task keeping his best players for next season.

One of those in the spotlight is 25-year-old forward Chris Wood, who netted 27 Championship goals to make him the leading scorer in the division.

A number of clubs have been linked with a move for the New Zealand international since it was confirmed that Leeds would be remaining in the Championship, but it is safe to say that supporters of the former Champions League outfit are desperate for Wood to sign a new deal.

Wood’s potential does seem to have finally been realised at Elland Road, and a tweet dedicated to the centre-forward on Monday afternoon brought a strong response from the Leeds fans.
