According to reports in The Sun, Leeds United target Kyle Bartley looks set to sign a new four-year deal with Swansea City to end any speculation that he could return to Elland Road.

Former Whites boss Garry Monk brought the centre-back to the club on a season-long loan deal last summer and the 26-year-old quickly went on to establish himself as one of the best in his position in the Championship, even captaining the team on occasions.

The former Arsenal man formed a solid partnership at the heart of the defence alongside Pontus Jansson as the Yorkshire outfit narrowly missed out on finishing in the play-off positions.

Even though Monk left and was replaced by Thomas Christiansen earlier this summer, The Sun claims that Bartley was still a target, but those hopes of re-signing him look to have been dashed.

Leeds supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, and they were divided with their opinions.

While some were disappointed that he wouldn’t be returning to the club, others believe that they need to move on and that Everton loanee Matthew Pennington will prove to be a capable successor.
