Leeds fans voice support for Garry Monk

Taking the reins at Leeds United must be one of the most unnerving challenges in football. Not only must you please a passionate fan base been starved of success for way too long, you are also working for an owner whose past attitude towards managers has been comparable to a child not getting the gift they wanted for Christmas.

The man who chose to accept this challenge at the beginning of the 2016/17 season was Garry Monk…and he almost got it right.

Before a dire spell of form in April, Leeds were firmly in the play-off mix and looked likely to continue their footballing season beyond May 7th. Unfortunately, the Yorkshire club ran out of steam at the end of the campaign and now face the prospect of yet another difficult season in the second tier.

This has left many Leeds fans concerned as to what will happen to their popular manager this summer. While the former Swansea boss has achieved more than any manager since Cellino purchased the club and despite having the majority of fans on his side, the Italian owner’s cut throat mentality may mean that yet another new face could be gracing the sidelines at Elland Road next season.
