On Tuesday afternoon, Leeds United announced that 21-year-old full-back Lewie Coyle had signed a new three-year contract with the club before heading out on loan to Fleetwood Town.

Coyle came through the youth system at Leeds, and has made 22 first-team appearances since his debut in 2014.

The defender only started three Championship matches during the 2016-17 campaign, however, and he has joined League One outfit Fleetwood with the view to securing regular action in the new season.

News of Coyle's new three-year deal, and subsequent loan move, was revealed on Tuesday, and the response from the Leeds supporters was extremely positive.

Coyle has not been deemed ready to make a serious impression for the Whites this season, but the fact that Leeds are looking to the future has gone down extremely well with the fans, who are back with the club following the huge disappointment in the final stages of last season.
