Leeds supporters nervous ahead of key Burton clash

Having only won one of their last five games in the Championship, Leeds United have dropped outside of the playoff positions in England’s second tier with just three matches of the 2016-17 campaign to play.

Monday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers saw Fulham move into six position, but Leeds are currently level with the Cottagers on the same number of matches, and indeed just two points behind fifth-place Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds travel to Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon knowing that a poor result could leave their playoff hopes in tatters, and the famous club’s supporters showed their nerves in response to an official tweet shortly before kickoff.

Indeed, the post revealed that Leeds had arrived at the Pirelli Stadium ahead of the 3pm kickoff, with Garry Monk’s side looking for their first away win in the Championship since March 3.

Reading and Huddersfield Town are both well-placed to finish in the Championship playoffs this season, but one from Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham and Leeds look set to miss out.
