Leeds United are anxious about Pontus Jansson omission

Leeds United slipped to a defeat on Saturday away to fellow play-off hopefuls Reading, who have now overtaken Garry Monk’s side in the Championship.

The scramble for play-off positions intensified as a Yann Kermorgrant effort gave Jaap Stam’s side a first half advantage they would not relinquish.

It was a deserved win for Reading and they’ll now take extra confidence into the play-offs where they could well face Leeds again in a two-legged tie.

For Leeds fans it was a frustrating evening and they now face an uncertain April with their play-off status far from assured.

For most fans it’s not a time to hit a panic button. However, there are concerns about today’s omission of one man in particular, Pontus Jansson.

The defender has been in wonderful form for Leeds this season but has now sat out their last two matches amid rumours of a rift between him and Garry Monk.

Ostensibly his absence today was due to an injury, but some supporters are concerned the issues run deeper than that.
