Leeds United fans lost their prolific goalscorer less than two days ago, but they already seem to have healed from the disappointment.

Wood, who scored 44 goals in 88 appearances over a two-year spell at Elland Road, joined Burnley in a club-record deal on Monday.

The figure was not disclosed by the clubs, but BBC Sport claim that Leeds pocketed £15m for the striker.

Given that the New Zealand international found the back of the net 27 times last season, it is understandable for the fans to be disappointed, but it does not seem that the heartache has lasted long.

The Whites were back in action on Tuesday night, taking on Newport County in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Even though Thomas Christiansen's side were facing League Two opposition, the team proved that they have other goalscorers on the pitch.

Samuel Saiz got on the scoresheet at Elland Road, while Ronaldo Vieira also found the back of the net, and Kemar Roofe nabbed a hat-trick.

After celebrating the victory, Leeds fans were quick to mention their recently-departed striker on Twitter.
