According to reports in The Guardian, Leeds United have submitted a £6m bid for Middlesbrough striker Rudy Gestede as they look to find a replacement for Chris Wood, who left to join Burnley in a £15m deal on Monday.

The departure of the New Zealand international, who scored 30 goals in all competitions for the Yorkshire outfit last term, will likely see Whites boss Thomas Christiansen dip into the transfer market with just Caleb Ekuban and Souleymane Doukara the only out-and-out strikers the club has right now.

The 28-year-old has suffered three successive relegations from the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa and last time out with Boro, but he showed just how prolific he can be at this level by scoring 32 goals across two seasons and 60 Championship appearances for the former.

Leeds supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, and they were divided with their opinions.

While some feel that the Benin international is better than Wood, others would rather "not sign anyone".
