Leeds United fans are eager for their star striker Chris Wood to return to Yorkshire following his campaign with New Zealand at the Confederations Cup.

The 25-year-old took to Twitter days after the All Whites bowed out of the tournament in Russia.

A 4-0 defeat to Portugal spelled the end for New Zealand, who finished the campaign at the bottom of Group A after failing to pick up a point.

Despite the nation's failure to progress, Wood left Russia in a positive mood.

Some of the Leeds players have already returned for pre-season training, but Wood will have extra time off due to his participation in the Confederations Cup.

The former Leicester City man is yet to meet up with his new head coach Thomas Christiansen, but he will be hoping to either match or improve his goal tally from last season.

Wood scored 27 Championship goals as the Whites just missed out on a playoff spot.

It is clear on Twitter, that the fans are keen to get their striker back to the club.
