Leeds United fans have tweeted their anger after striker Chris Wood was overlooked for the EFL Championship Player of the Season.

The 25-year-old was up for the gong along with Brighton winger Anthony Knockaert and Newcastle United forward Chris Gayle.

In the end, though, it was Knockaert who was given the prestigious title after helping the Seagulls reach the summit of the Championship table with five games left to play.

Wood has been pivotal for Leeds, scoring 24 goals in 39 league games, and has been a main reason why Garry Monk's men are pushing for Premier League promotion via the playoffs.

As it stands, the Whites are fifth in the table, five points above seventh-placed Fulham, who are the closest challengers to a playoff spot.

Despite missing out on the main prize, Wood was included in the Championship Team of the Season alongside teammate Pontus Jansson.

Only Leeds and Brighton had two players each in the season XI, but plenty of Whites supporters are upset that Wood was beaten by Knockaert in the individual category.
