Match of the Day host Gary Lineker caused some controversy on Twitter when he claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are superior to their North London rivals Arsenal.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side ran out as 2-0 winners in Sunday’s clash at White Hart Lane thanks to goals from Dele Alli and Harry Kane.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 55th minute through Alli and just three minutes later they doubled their lead when Kane coolly slotted home from the penalty spot after being fouled by Gabriel Paulista.
Arsenal failed to respond and it means that they have not beaten their neighbours since September 2015 when they claimed a 2-1 victory on away turf.
Spurs are on course to finish above the Gunners in the Premier League table for the first time in 22 years as they currently sit second with a 17-point advantage over their sixth-placed rivals.
After the match, Lineker sparked a reaction when he tweeted that Tottenham are now above Arsenal in every way.
