Three years ago to the day, Ander Herrera and Jesse Lingard both made their first-team debuts for Manchester United against Swansea City in the Premier League.

Herrera has since developed into a key midfielder for the Red Devils, and it would be fair to brand the Spaniard as one of Man United's most popular players with the club's fans.

Lingard, on the other hand, has had a tougher task convincing the supporters of his worth.

The 24-year-old, who signed a long-term contract with Man United last season, has scored 11 times in 85 appearances for his English club in all competitions.

The England international has developed a knack of scoring in big matches, but his ability to contribute on a consistent basis has been questioned over the last couple of seasons.

On Wednesday, Man United's official Twitter account posted images of Herrera and Lingard in action on their first-team debuts, and the response from the club's supporters suggests that the latter is still facing a difficult task to be fully accepted at Old Trafford.
