Liverpool’s season is at risk of going off the rails after a disappointing performance and result against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday.
In a match many fans expected to win, Christian Benteke came back to haunt them, scoring twice to cancel out Philippe Coutinho’s opener.
The result means they are now at serious risk of dropping out of the top four in the Premier League, meaning their dream of returning to the UEFA Champions League may have to wait another season.
They are now just three points ahead of Manchester United, who have two games in hand over the Reds. With just four games remaining for Liverpool, it appears as if despite being in the top four for the majority of the season, they may drop out right when it matters.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been blighted by inconsistency since the turn of the year and their defence in particular is attracting a lot of negative attention.
Supporters are growing increasingly impatient with one man in particular; Dejan Lovren. He put in another insipid display against the Eagles and fans are now hoping for drastic action in the summer. They’ve even started dreaming of replacements with the likes of Virgil van Dijk at the top of their wish-list.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…
Done with Lovren too. I've spent 3 years moaning how easily he lets players run in behind him, and it's cost us again today #LFC

I'd be absolutely delighted if today was the last time Dejan Lovren ever wore a #LFC shirt

Klopp needs to take responsibility for not strengthening in Jan. Lovren was awful. Zonal marking does not work! #LFC

Dejan Lovren plays every week while we have Sakho out on loan? Sort it out. Need a quality centre half ASAP! #lfc

Wonder if rather than £50mil for Van Dijk, Southampton would except a player plus cash deal? Like £50mil and Lovren? #LFC
