Liverpool’s defensive woes were on full display on Sunday, thrashed 4-1 by Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium in the English Premier League.
The Reds undoubtedly have attacking ability but the same old problems under Jurgen Klopp came to the fore again during the 90 minutes, with Spurs in the kind of mood to punish them ruthlessly. Harry Kane was on top form again, scoring a double, with teammates Dele Alli and Son Heung-min also on the scoresheet.
It’s a result that leaves Liverpool languishing in ninth position after the weekend’s action, already 12 points off the pace set by Manchester City at the top of the table. Any hopes supporters had of a title challenge are rapidly disappearing.
Fans were particularly displeased with the performance of Emre Can, who could not get to grips with the game at all. With his contract running out at the end of the season, supporters are starting to question his motivation.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on his performance…
I would ship emre can to juventus for free. this guy is terrible and have no idea why juventus want him #lfc

We need to act like a big club again and if the likes of Can and Coutinho want to leave then get rid and replace them.#LFC

Can can go, Henderson bench. Mid of Keita, Lallana and add a DM. Klopp needs to spend or leave. Two CBs needed. A striker, GK #LFC

Which #lfc players need replacing? I’m saying Mignolet, Lovren, Can and possibly Henderson.

Is there any point playing Can if he won't sign a new deal? ? #LFC

As much as i loved Can and his cool style, I'd much prefer seeing Grujic or Woodburn give 100% than Can at arrogant 70-85% #LFC

There is no room for Milner in midfield. Too slow. Can has attitude problem. #lfc
