Liverpool were pushed all the way by Stoke City on Saturday in a match that on another day could have easily seen them drop points.

In the end it was an impressive and resilient performance from Jurgen Klopp's men, who showed the kind of steely determination that it takes to finish in the top four positions of the English Premier League.

Goals from Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino in the second half reversed an opener from Jonathan Walters just before the interval.

The 2-1 victory means they consolidated their third position in the Premier League and are now 9 points ahead of fourth.

Mark Hughes' side gave a good account of themselves and were probably unlucky not to get at least a point out of the match.

Denying them at almost every turn was Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, who put in a season defining performance between the sticks from the Reds. In command of his area for the entire 90 minutes and making a number of incredible saves, he was undoubtedly the star performer for Jurgen Klopp.

He's received his fair share of criticism this season but performances like Saturday's will go a long way to making him a fans' favourite at the club.

Supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts on his performance...
