According to reports in the Daily Mail, Barcelona have made a £72m bid for Liverpool attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho, but the Reds are expected to reject the offer.

The Catalan giants are looking for a long-term replacement for Andres Iniesta and the Daily Mail says that they believe the 25-year-old can do exactly that.

However, the Merseyside aren’t keen to sell the Brazil international, who only extended his stay at Anfield until 2022 last season.

The forward scored 14 goals and provided a further nine assists in 36 appearances in all competitions for the Reds

during the previous campaign as they qualified for the Champions League.

Liverpool supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, with many not understanding how Barcelona could only value Coutinho at £72m considering some of the other deals that have already happened this summer, while one even said that he wouldn’t accept an offer of £350m for the Brazilian.
