It became pretty clear an hour before kick-off at Anfield on Saturday evening that something between Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez had gone sour (well, even more so), with the Chilean excluded from Arsene Wenger’s XI for the vital Liverpool clash.
Cameras focused on the Gunners attacker for almost the entirety of the first 45 minutes, with each break in play accompanied by a shot of the player himself sat just a row behind his manager, before he came on at half-time with this side 2-0 down.
As we all know the tie ended 3-1 to the home team, and since then an explosive report from the Mirror has revealed that Sanchez wants out after bust-ups with his manager and his team-mates over the course of the past couple of weeks.
It’s fair to say Liverpool fans are loving this, with the summer of 2013 having been one in which the London club attempted to poach Luis Suarez from them with a bid they believed would trigger a release clause in his contract. The £40m + £1 offer is now infamous and Kopites have urged their club to do the same for Sanchez…
Alexis Sanchez is set to leave Arsenal in the summer. Announce a bid of £40m + £1! @LFC

Although most were joking, some Liverpool supporters are actually serious about trying to prise Sanchez from Arsenal…
I’d bid massive for Sanchez, absolutely world class player who is ideal for our style of play. Definitely leaving Arsenal also

Very unlikely but would love us to at least try to sign Alexis Sanchez. Perfect Klopp player. Experienced, high work rate & top quality.

Would love to see Liverpool supplant Arsenal in the top four and sign Alexis from them in the summer, would be the perfect addition. #LFC
