Liverpool’s return to the group stages of the Champions League began with a 2-2 draw against Sevilla at Anfield on Wednesday night, and Reds fans were divided on the performance of left-back Alberto Moreno.

Despite coming under criticism and finding himself behind James Milner in the pecking order last season, the Spaniard is being given more of a chance in the side by Jurgen Klopp this season and started against his former team on Wednesday.

While he perhaps should have done better from a defensive point of view in the fifth minute when Wissam Ben Yedder gave the visitors the lead after being caught on the wrong side of the forward, he did set up Roberto Firmino for the equalising goal just 15 minutes later.

The 25-year-old went on to pick up a yellow card for a poor challenge and was unlucky not to score just before the break in what was an eventful first 45 minutes.

Liverpool supporters were quick to have their say on Moreno’s showing via social media, and they were divided with their opinions.

While some feel that he put in a "top performance", others described him as a "complete joke".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
