As reported by The Evening Standard, Liverpool appear to be interested in signing West Ham United star Manuel Lanzini this summer despite the Irons’ desire to keep him at the London Stadium.
The paper say that if Reds hero Philippe Coutinho should leave Anfield this summer, they’ll have the money to replace him with Argentina international Lanzini.
West Ham have made a number of key signings in the transfer window including Joe Hart and Javier Hernandez, losing one of their star players from last term would go against that ambitious strategy and fans will be hoping he sticks around.
If they did lose Coutinho then they’d absolutely need to replace his creativity and threat. However, is Lanzini of the standard to do that?
Reds fans certainly don’t appear to think so with many not taking the reports very well at all.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on potentially signing Lanzini to replace the Brazilian…
Just imagine replacing coutinho with lanzini 😂 that would be so Liverpool like! Sell Torres get Carroll, sell coutinho get lanzini 😂#LFC

Selling Coutinho to Barcelona and buying Manuel Lanzini to replace him is just a Liverpool thing.
