Still reeling from the red card that Sadio Mane received against Manchester City on Saturday, Liverpool and their fans wouldn’t have been pleased with the incident involving Newcastle United’s Matt Ritchie and Swansea City’s Alfie Mawson in their clash on Sunday.
Mane was given a straight red card by Jon Moss after his high foot connected with Citizens goalkeeper Ederson when he was trying to win the ball in his side’s 5-0 defeat at the Etihad, but the same punishment wasn’t dished out to Ritchie in a similar looking challenge at the Liberty Stadium.
As the ball looped up in the air the Scottish winger put his foot up to win the ball and came close to striking Mawson in the face, but he was only given a yellow card with the centre-back staying on his feet.

Liverpool supporters were quick to have their say on the incident via social media, and they believe that it showed the “shocking” inconsistencies that referees are showing, with others saying they weren’t surprised by the different outcome.
