Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp produced some surprises when he named his starting line-up for the trip to Stoke City on Saturday, and Reds fans were in disbelief.

Klopp decided to go with a 3-5-2 formation and to start youngsters such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben Woodburn at the Britannia Stadium, with Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho on the substitutes’ bench.

The third-placed Merseyside outfit are looking to bounce back from the disappointing 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at Anfield on Wednesday night – in which they came from behind to lead before conceding a late equaliser – as they look secure a top four finish and Champions League football next season.

Liverpool supporters were quick to have their say on the surprising team news via social media, with many telling the club that April Fools’ Day was last weekend, not this.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction to the team news…
