Liverpool's disappointing run of form continued as they were beaten 2-0 by Leicester City in the third round of the EFL Cup at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night, and Reds fans were less than impressed with Jon Flanagan on a rare appearance for the defender.

The 24-year-old was named in the team for the first time since the final Premier League game of the 2015/16 season, having spent last term on loan with Burnley, as Jurgen Klopp decided to make wholesale changes to the team that drew with the Clarets on Saturday.

Injuries have restricted the right-back's progress at Anfield, and his performance against the Foxes certainly won't have helped his chances of turning his Liverpool career around.

He struggled to defend against Demarai Gray and he failed to link up with his teammates from an attacking point of view in the second half when Klopp's men went in search of goals.

Liverpool supporters were quick to have their say on the full-back’s showing via social media, and while some labelled it as "actually embarrassing", others believe he 'isn’t even good enough for the reserves'.
