Liverpool fans slam the club over design of new away kit

The majority of Liverpool fans were happy with the club’s retro-style red new home kit, but the same cannot be said for the away strip.

The Merseyside outfit unveiled the design at lunchtime on Friday, and it was met by plenty of criticism.

The kit – modelled by captain Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and James Milner – consists of a green and white shirt with black shorts and black socks.

The shirt, which breaks the colours up into squares, is similar to the design worn by Liverpool players in the 1995-96 season.

Like the home kit, the club are commemorating 125 years of existence by stitching ‘1892’ and ‘2017’ beneath the Liver Bird crest.

Liverpool’s number two shot-stopper Loris Karius modelled the black and grey goalkeeper kit, but all the focus was on the outfield players’ attire.

Supporters took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the New Balance-manufactured away strip, and the majority of them were scathing in their verdicts.
