Liverpool fans have high hopes for young full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold after he scored a crucial Champions League goal and his first ever for the club this evening.

The 18-year-old scored from a sublime free kick 35 minutes into the Reds' first leg qualifier against Hoffenheim in Germany.

It was a pivotal moment in the match as the Reds' defensive frailties were on show again, with the club conceding a penalty, which was saved by Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool later doubled their lead after a cross from James Milner deflected off an opponent and into the top corner.

It was a nervy ending for Klopp's men as they conceded a goal from Mark Uth in the 87th minute, but they will head into the return leg at Anfield with an away-goal advantage.

Alexander-Arnold, who has started the last two games due to Nathaniel Clyne's injury, did show some negatives, though, as he was partly at fault for Hoffenheim's goal after failing to stay with his man.

Despite that, the fans were very impressed with their homegrown talent.
