Liverpool play host to arch-rivals Manchester United at Anfield on Saturday, and Reds fans want fringe player James Milner to be handed the right-back spot.
Despite being a key man for the Merseyside outfit in the left-back position last season, the 31-year-old has found starts harder to come by this term and he has featured for just 242 minutes in Jurgen Klopp’s side’s opening seven Premier League fixtures during the current campaign.
Klopp has experimented with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez in the right-back spot in the absence of the injured Nathaniel Clyne, but the Anfield faithful believe that something different is needed against the in-form Red Devils.
Liverpool supporters were quick to have their say on the potential of Milner being included in the starting XI via social media, and while some said he “has to start at RB”, others agreed and believe “he’s needed for a game like this”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Sorry but I would prefer Milner at the right back today… #lfc

Milner has to start at RB. No way about it. Have someone with maturity and experience back there.
Lacks pace against Martial however #LFC

Been in the back of my mind all week the idea of Milner at RB. I think he's needed for a game like this.

Play Milner RB today. I know you'll hit me with he'll get handed by pace on the counter but he's a clever, experienced player
