Liverpool supporters demand more from midfielder

Liverpool have taken a big step towards booking a spot in the group stages of the Champions League after recording a 2-1 win at Hoffenheim in the first leg of their playoff on Tuesday night.

The Premier League outfit shaded what was an entertaining contest from Germany, with a free kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold and own goal from Havard Nordtveit proving enough to secure an advantage ahead of the return at Anfield next Wednesday.

After the match, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson told BT Sport that his team were pleased with their overall performance, but the midfielder’s comments have not gone down too well with some Liverpool fans.

Henderson, 27, is fast closing on 250 appearances for the Reds following a 2011 move from Sunderland, but there are still some Liverpool supporters that doubt his credentials to be a captain.

Indeed, a number of the club’s fanbase have taken exception to Henderson’s comments after the match, with some of the opinion that the Englishman is not currently worthy of a place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.
