Liverpool's 4-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon left the Reds in ninth position in the Premier League table.

It is still relatively early in the season, but the Merseyside outfit are already 12 points off the league leaders Manchester City, who seemingly cannot be stopped at the moment.

Liverpool might well go on to finish in the top four this term, but they will need to improve defensively due to the level of competition for a Champions League spot.

Club captain Jordan Henderson, who is valued at £25.2m by transfermarkt.co.uk, was one of few Liverpool players that faced the media following the defeat at Tottenham.

As expected, the England international said that his team would learn from their mistakes, and attempt to put things right in their next match, which is against Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Liverpool supporters did not react too kindly to the midfielder's comments, however, with many claiming that Henderson is nowhere near the required level to be captain of the Reds.
