Lukaku tied up, now Everton fans want Barkley to commit

If the latest media speculation is to be believed, then Romelu Lukaku is on the verge of signing a new five-year contract at Goodison Park, according to talkSPORT.

That is music to Everton fans’ ears, but now they want his teammate Ross Barkley to put pen to paper on fresh terms.

The midfielder had a tough start to the season under manager Ronald Koeman, who publicly criticised the homegrown player on occasion.

Around December, Barkley was forced to spend some time on the bench, but he has since worked his way back into the team.

In fact, the 23-year-old has started every match since December 30 and in that time has scored two goals and made three others.

His upturn in form has not gone unnoticed by a number of supporters, who are keen for the club to tie the midfielder down to fresh terms.

As it stands, Barkley will be out of contract at the end of next season, so the longer he remains on this current deal, speculation over his future will intensify.
