Axel Tuanzebe made his first Manchester United appearance of the season in Tuesday’s EFL Cup clash with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
The 19-year-old was not fit to feature in the previous round against Burton Albion, but played the full 90 minutes of United’s 2-0 win in Wales.
It would be fair to say that the teenager is too good for Under-23 level, and the United fans have been calling for his selection for some time.
Eric Bailly’s injury has allowed summer signing Victor Lindelof to play more minutes in recent games, but the Swede has really struggled with the rigours of English football.
With Bailly set to miss Saturday’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur, the United supporters have called for Tuanzebe, who is rated at £900k by transfermarkt.co.uk, to be ahead of Lindelof in the pecking order.
It seems unlikely that Jose Mourinho will throw the Congo-born defender into Premier League action against Spurs, but the United supporters want him at centre-back over Lindelof, that is for sure.
