No football fan likes to see a player seriously injured, unless that player belongs to your arch rivals and suffers an injury ahead of the derby.
That’s exactly what’s happened to Liverpool’s Saido Mane, who has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a hamstrung injury sustained on international duty with Senegal.
Since arriving from Southampton in summer 2016, the dynamic forward has established himself as one of the Anfield outfit’s most important players – in fact, their win rate dropped by a whopping 26% when he wasn’t in their starting XI last season.
So ahead of the Northwest derby on Saturday, which will see Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield, it should perhaps be no surprise that the news has been like music to the ears of Red Devils supporters.
In fact, many have already taken to Twitter to express their delight. Here’s a look at some of the best responses…

Mane out for 6 weeks. Gives United the advantage on Saturday, hope Lukaku doesn't get injured tonight. #MUFC
