Manchester United failed to lift the UEFA Super Cup trophy after they were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid in Skopje on Tuesday night, and Red Devils fans were particularly concerned by the performance of defender Victor Lindelof.

The 23-year-old moved to Old Trafford in a £31m deal from Benfica earlier in the summer, and he lined up alongside Chris Smalling and Matteo Darmian in a back three against the Champions League holders in Macedonia.

Goals either side of the break from Casemiro and Isco gave the La Liga giants a 2-0 advantage, with Lindelof coming under fire for the first goal.

Even though Romelu Lukaku pulled one back for Jose Mourinho’s men with just under half-an-hour to play, they couldn’t find an equaliser.

Man United supporters were quick to have their say on the performance of their Swedish centre-back via social media, and while some said that he made "Smalling look good", one person even described him as the worst centre-half to play for the club in the last 20 years.
