Former Manchester United target Renato Sanches failed to make an impact for Swansea City on his Premier League debut on Sunday, and Red Devils fans are pleased they didn’t sign the midfielder.

The Manchester Evening News says that Jose Mourinho was keen to bring the Portugal international to Old Trafford when he took charge last summer, but Bayern Munich beat the Portuguese boss to the highly-rated youngster.

However, the 20-year-old struggled to make an impression in his first season with the Bundesliga giants and they decided to loan him out for regular playing time during the current campaign, with the Swans winning the race to sign the Euro 2016 winner on deadline day.

It seems as though it could take him some time to adapt to Premier League football though, with some disappointing possession stats on his bow in the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at the Liberty Stadium.

Man United supporters were quick to have their say on Sanches’ performance via social media, and while some described him as "so bad", others are glad that the club lost out on his signature to Bayern.
